Protect the Daintree Rainforest and plant 2000 seedlings on Community Tree Planting Day
Synthesis Organics partners with Rainforest Rescue in a bid to save the Daintree Rainforest Rainforest Rescue and Synthesis Organics are calling out to volunteers to help protect the Daintree Rainforest on Community Tree Planting Day, Saturday 13 May. The aim of the day is to plant 2000 seedlings across 2500 square metres of rainforest within the Wonga region. "The site has been prepared, holes dug and the seedlings propagated from seed collected from the Daintree. All we need is volunteers willing to get their hands dirty." says Julian Gray, CEO, Rainforest Rescue.
Rainforest Rescue hopes to attract at least 50 volunteers, including local families and children, and to double the seedlings planted from last year. In a bid to protect the Daintree, sustainable skincare brand, Synthesis Organics, will plant a seedling for every certified organic Rainforest Body Polish or Hand and Body Lotion it sells.
"Many of our signature Synthesis ingredients are sourced from the rainforests, including Australian lemon myrtle and Amazonian acai berry." says Theme Rains, Founder and Chief Sustainability Officer, Synthesis Organics.
"We feel compelled to do our part to protect these magnificent forests and help heal the damage already done. The Daintree Rainforest is one of the most significant ecosystems in the world." says Julian Gray, CEO, Rainforest Rescue.
The Rainforest may be heritage listed but it is very much under threat is in desperate need of protection due to ongoing land clearance, building developments and introduction of non-native invasive species. volunteers help on the Day will create a legacy of restoration in the beautiful Daintree. Together we can help limit the extinction of Australia flora and fauna, offer more homes and coverage for our native wildlife, as well as offset tonnes of carbon dioxide. One tree can grow up to 40 metres and offsets one tonne of carbon dioxide. Rainforest experts and indigenous custodians of the land will be available on the day to answer questions.
The event will start at 8.00 am and finish at 11.30 am. Meeting place is Nightwings Rainforest Centre, 2125 Mossman-Daintree Road, Wonga. Volunteers are encouraged to bring hats, sunscreen, water bottle, sturdy shoes and gardening gloves.
NB: NightWings Rainforest Centre is located near Wonga Beach in far north Queensland, Australia, on the main Mossman-Daintree Road, about 30 minutes drive north of Port Douglas and 10 minutes south of the Daintree Ferry Crossing. The property backs onto the Dagmar Range of the Mossman section of the World Heritage-listed Daintree National Park and sits within the UNESCO listed Wet Tropics Region.
